Scott Whitfield
Defines the Banjo in Dallas, Texas
Scott Whitfield hails from Wichita Falls, Texas. He is based in the Dallas-Ft. Worth, Texas area. Scott performs as an independent solo artist and with his bands, Scott & The Jazz Cats, Scott & The Texas Twisters and Scott & The Ballistics. It has been stated by industry professionals that “Scott defines the banjo in Dallas.”
Scott graduated from Midwestern State University with a Bachelor of Music Degree. The thrust of his musical journey is to make a lasting place for the banjo in the music of today and the future. This had become evident in 2021 when he was inducted into the American Banjo Museum Hall of Fame.
Scott & The Jazz Cats have opened for Pete Fountain, KC & the Sunshine Band, and have appeared with the late Larry Hagman of the television series “Dallas”. Scott has performed for the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia. He is a ten year veteran of Six Flags over Texas. Scott and his bands are regulars at the Ft. Worth Main Street Arts Festival and the Denton Arts & Jazz Festival.
His originals earned him a nomination for the Trailblazer Award from Airplay International in Nashville. Scott was named a “Texas Tornado” and performed for his induction ceremony at The Hard Rock Cafe joining the company of Stevie Ray Vaughn, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson.
Scott and his bands perform regularly in the Dallas-Ft. Worth market as well as regionally. Scott is frequently a featured soloist and clinician at banjo festivals nationally.
